SIGNED Mark Howard
"Wrexham AFC are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced goalkeeper, Mark Howard, who becomes the Club’s second addition of the summer.

Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Urgh. Lainton still #1 then? Or is Dibble off?
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Parkinson added: “Mark’s an experienced goalkeeper who I worked with at Bolton, and he was Player of the Season at Carlisle last year. He has a lot of league experience and will be a great addition.

If he was player of the season at Carlisle, he'll surely be 1st choice? |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Any good?
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Looks a good solid signing to fight Lainton for No.1
Ex Cardiff too, so may have some previous knowledge of the area. |

At 35 though? |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Player of season at Carlisle.
He’ll do. 4 more. |

Pleased to be signing Carlisle players again

Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Played 35 times for Carlisle last season.
|
At 35 though?
That's not old for a goal keeper. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Released from Carlisle. I’d still guess Lainton as number 1 but seems more than decent back up.
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Just need Gary Robbie and Jason now.
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
That's not old for a goal keeper.
Yeah I guess so... Just really wanted a keeper who was streets ahead of the others. |
Just need Gary Robbie and Jason now.
I'd take that |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
He'll do for me, he is above Dibble that's all that matters, if its him or Lainton in goal I can live with that
|
Yeah I guess so...
Just really wanted a keeper who was streets ahead of the others.
I'm happy if he's competent. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
At 35 though?
35 is ok for a keeper, he is clearly fit enough getting player of the season for Carlise last season. As long as he can do a job this season and get us up is all that matters. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
I'm happy if he's competent.
Me too. All you need at this level is a competent keeper aslong as you have a class team infront of him. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
More like Mark Whoward
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
12 games in Championship, 143 in League 1 and 72 in League.
Looks to be a solid signing. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Least Dibble is 2 injuries away from starting now.
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Oooooh
Titter yee not! |

This. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
35 is fine for a keeper, sounds the right profile. People shouldn't write a player off just because they haven't heard of him. To me keeper is a position where we need solid, rather than spectacular.

Interesting article. Paul Simpson very positive about him and very vague explanation for why he was released. |

Yeah fair comment. I'd rather we chuck £300k at a top midfielder than a goalkeeper. Could be a solid signing and could provide decent rotation for Lainton. Overall I'm getting happier about it the more I think about it. |

Depends if Lainton is properly over his injury. If Howard starts the season, and performs well, he might take some shifting as first choice.. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
We got a clubs player of the season in the league above as back up. I never thought I would be saying that 2 years ago

No issues with that, I’d just be happy to have two decent keepers both ready to go. If Lainton is fit though I’m fully expecting him to start. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Happy with that.

Interesting article. Paul Simpson very positive about him and very vague explanation for why he was released.
Not really, he wants a younger keeper to be part of a longer term squad rebuild. Pretty clear and fair enough. |

I'm not convinced he's here as backup, unless you've heard different from your HP bottle? |

Indeed, and they signed a new (younger) keeper* last month for that, hence his release. * also, interestingly, England’s tallest player https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/20202660.lets-crack-on---carlisle-uniteds-giant-new-goalkeeper-raring-go/ Welcome to Mark. Hopefully him and Lainton for no 1. |
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Lainton still number 1 and this guy ready for when he gets injured. Good deal.
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
four pages and no one has said they are underwhelmed. got to be a record. :wrexscarf::wrexscarf::wrexscarf:

Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Howard will be number 1
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Looking at the info online seems a good signing and a very good chance he will start the season as No.1
|
Re: SIGNED Mark Howard
Happy with that. Solid. Experienced. Still playing well (player of the season).
Will also know Hayden I guess? |
