I think starting with a position of cynicism is completely right. That said, there may be very good reasons and I hope that before negotiations are entered into (if the vote goes through) the motivations are thoroughly investigated.
In a way because we don't have particularly good material assets (land etc) under our control we should be fairly safe from the types of shady customers we've had before.
Mh personal view is that In the current climate the WST are vulnerable financially and it might be the perfect time to sell, if the right people have come forward.
