Re: Welsh Football Museum
The last statement from gov.wales stated that they paid £10m for a joint arts/football feasibility study, and seem to strongly suggest that Wrexham was the preferred location for the museum
https://gov.wales/written-statement-future-priorities-relating-feasibility-studies-sport-museum-and-contemporary-art But surely a bit of joined up thinking from FWA and WAG could solve two problems at the same time by locating the museum at Y Cae Ras? There is no better location, and especially as we are led to believe that FAW are trying to secure the land behind the kop. A bulk of the history that they are intending to display is already here.
They spent £10m on a feasibility study? |

According to the report 'The Welsh Government has set aside £10 million in capital funds to progressing both studies, honouring the budget agreement with Plaid Cymru'. |

No - thats the big pot for a few things. Also - worth noting the initial estimate of the capital cost for such a facility is around £4,400,000, and the additional running costs to support the proposed Museum are estimated to be in the order of £144,500 per annum. Worth a read of the feasibility report too for those interested https://gweddill.gov.wales/docs/drah/publications/181119-sports-museum-feasibility-report-en.pdf |
The UNI as it would be on their land. We'd probably end up paying additional rent for an improved facility.
It says 10 million!!!!!!! no wonder there is no money for services. As for a Contemporary Art Gallery that really would be an attraction for the area. I Can tell you a few years back pre Assembly and WCBC the WMBC were asked to have discussions over such a gallery in Wrexham but the Council of the day declined to even meet with the Welsh Arts Council. Backward thinking even in those days. |
Re: Welsh Football Museum
They should make use of the old Grove Park girls school. Certain people petitioned to save the building and now it is an embarrassing eyesore that has ruined another part of town.
Thanks once again Mr Ian Lucas! |
