Re: Off Field Success story
So if all is well off the field then why is it we have the dross on the field? Surely we should be able to attract better players and management.
Spot on. This is a football club, the clue is in the title...football. Any board member trying to measure success by anything other than the quality of football is trying to play us for fools. You can be successful on the pitch without going bankrupt, just stop wasting money and play good football that attracts crowds.
So why did I and many others buy shares then and I became a WST life member ?
Are you talking community shares?
What WST life membership? Annual membership. If you don’t pay next season you’re not a member.

We’re using the term member here anyway. Not owner. :)

Community shares granted people free life membership.
But were not fan owned. It’s just an annual membership system.
Who owns the club then?

WST.

The fans finance WST so in a way it is fan owned; but ultimately with very little control or facility to make changes.
Who owns the club then?
About 5 people.

But every member holds a nominal £1 share in the WST and is entitled to a vote

You get a vote with the WST whilst Spencer co-ops his pals onto the football board.

We all know who “owns” the club. It was always the aim.
Its bollocks basically. Its worn so thin you can see through it now. Been dined out on now for years.

Its a football club so any 'success' off-field is pretty irrelevant if that's where it ends. If it doesn't go towards success on the pitch then its pointless.

If you have to resort to 'yeah but they're doing a great job away from the football' and its discussion about a football club, well you're just making yourself look stupid really.
Absolutely spot on.
