Default Ony six places nailed on, good!

"Lainton, Jennings, Pearson, M Smith, and Wright are for me the only guaranteed starters from their performances so far. The only negative I see in this is that Jennings could do with someone else to push him (He was ace yesterday to be fair)

We've had good performances from everyone else, but they've all got challengers. Probably the strongest call for another certainty is Fondop, but even he has Pyke and Beavon wanting a starting place and offering more than he does in certain areas. "

I have resurrected an old thread I started because I thinks its an interesting discussion point. I only had five players in the first thread but I'm adding another after Saturday and its Summerfield who I think has been excellent.

I am interested in people's reactions to this view, as the most popular player of posters outside this list was JMD. Is that still the case? Rutherford has also possibly gone up the pecking order, and Fondop has caused consistent trouble. I still can't convince myself anybody else should be a certain start, but a few have made progress towards that.

My opinion is that Pearson, Manny and Leinton are certs with Akil Wright pushing hard to be next on the list! Big Mike still has to prove he can last the test of time as in fairness this is his first full time professional contract and the season will be long and hard but he has made a fabulous start! Don’t agree with Jennings, I actually prefer playing Carrington in the back four - he isn’t consistent enough particularly away from home for me. Thame has been incredible as cover and was very upset for him that he had to go off injured the other day. Summerfield has been excellent in the middle but outshone by Wright IMHO who has quietly been immense every game so far and is thriving under Sam! Hinds needs a chance, everyone else has had one so he deserves a go else send him back as it’s not fair on the lad - granted he looks physically tiny but if he has pace then that will unlock defences and I felt we missed a trick not giving him a run out at Solihull where pace up top would have given them something new to think about rather than more of the same. Wonderful start and brilliant to be having such conversations as who starts over who...when was the last time we had a competitive squad like this (I.e real competition for places!!)?!!! Well done the board but mostly well done Sam Ricketts and his team, very refreshing and exactly what we need and in fairness deserve as a fan base (sorry Sam losing hurts deeply in these parts and we have ultra high expectations...but come hell or high water our fans will forever be with the team never forget that!! No confidence knocks, no bad mouthing, it’s just huge huge desire and hunger to succeed and we’ve been so close so often!!). COYR, UTT and Super Sam for President, Prime Minister and King if he can get us back where we deserve to be, back where we belong!

Hinds is still injured according to a chat I had in the tunnel on Saturday. He was reportedly sat in the paddock with an ice-pack on his ankle. He is not far off a return though.

No ones place should be nailed on , they are all capable of being out of form , including Pearson & Smith

After Pearson and Smith it’s got to be Summerfield.

Plus it’s going to be interesting to see how we can cope if Fondop is ever missing, we haven’t got another striker of his type.

Sorry I do agree wholeheartedly with this...just think of those mentioned as first names on the team sheet at the moment if they are fit. I’m a strong believer in earning your spot and that you’re only as good as your last performance etc etc..

I hope you’re right and he gets a shot..seemed very frustrated at Maidenhead but for the right reasons I hasten to add. Think he has something different to offer versus what we have at present so am very interested to see how he goes and really hope he gets his chance.
