Time to support our rivals
Let's throw our full support behind Solihull Moors, Leyton Orient and AFC Fylde in their FA Trophy quarter finals in Saturday. They've all got winnable games so let's hope for their sake they do win. Going to Wembley is an experience never to be forgotten. At least they're not going to play North Ferriby United. Their fixture congestion will kill off their chances without a doubt. Leyton Orient has already got 8 games planned in March. AFC Fylde has 7. Solihull has 6 and so do we. When we win this league, we need to raise a glass to Graham Barrow for the team he played at home to Leyton Orient in the FA Trophy. Massive win tonight. Nice to see Solihull has started making plans for League 2 today by unveiling their plans for a 1,131 stand. Jesus. Come on Reds. See the job through now. We're proud of you. |

Re: Time to support our rivals
It actually makes a big difference when you look at the facts. The last team to win both the Conference and the FA Trophy in the same season was Wycombe Wanderers in 1993 so therefore it is safe to assume that the teams that stand a better chance of winning the league will almost certainly not also win the FA Trophy.
Promotion via play offs and FA Trophy victories are different. |

Re: Time to support our rivals
Thank you gaz! All I'm trying to say is there is a lesser correlation between winning the conference and the fa trophy in the same season than the average punter may think. It's a very, very rare occurance so the further our rivals go in the FA Trophy, the less likely they are to win the league.
Jesus, my head hurts more now than when I was learning O Level physics from Mr Tibbett at Grango School in 1987. |
