dont get me wrong .. some of the retained list im suprised at (as we are evrery single season) . but in my opinion some aint as bad as some fans make out.

We finished in our lowest league position in our history.If it was up to me I'd ship out 95% of them !!!

TBF I think a lot of people are perhaps attached to what they see as the 'good old days', when the club would decide which players they wanted to keep based on performances, rather than players having the power to decide to give themselves a contract extension.

(Although, is this a new contract extension, or was his original extension a 2 year one? If that's the case, the club kept that very quiet. A bit like Manny Smith's contract, I guess.)

Presumably he was given a contract where a renewal was automatic based on appearances and/or goals scored, or some other targets. He was signed from a club two leagues higher so would have had to have been offered a decent contract to tempt him here.

There's plenty of room to bring in some quality now in what should be a buyer's market.

If it is a buyers market surely you would hope for better than Rutherford and Dibble ? With squads being trimmed and a larger number of players than usual without clubs (presuming league 1 and league 2 teams are financially restricted ) we should be looking for better than we had last year

Depends who is available for sure. I'd imagine if Keates can find better for the right money then they won't be kept on.
