Gordon Brown letter: Sun misjudges readers’ mood malcolm coles

What do you think?
Personally I think the Sun, and the mother are both acting disgracefully in this whole thing, the woman's lost her son, she shouldn't be trying to score points against the Government by first publishing a private letter and second recording a phone call made to her by way of an apology. And as for The Sun, it was a matter of time until they crossed the line in my opinion.
I'm not a fan at all of Gordon Brown, however I do feel sorry for him as he's being demonised by a vile paper which seemingly will stop at nothing to engage in a bit of moral outrage.
I've never bought the Sun, and never intend to: things like this are why.

The Scum is a disgraceful newspaper (if you can call it that) which is mostly lies and rumours, need I say more?

I'm pretty sure Labour has no fans on this forum , but the sun has gone OTT since they decided not to give support to Labours campain, why dont they just concentrate on showing tits and leave the politics to imparcial publications.

Sadly there's no such thing anymore!!!
And I dunno about no fans, wasn't it about 36 people who said they'd vote for them on the General Election thread? Not for me personally, voting Plaid if nothing better comes along before then!

Agree about the dreadful treatment of GB over this issue- the guy has lost a child himself, and the Sun's campaign is despicable. I assume that grieving mother has by now received her cheque.

On an aside, I really do despair about people who have to rely on newspapers to tell them which way to vote/ what to think/ who should win the X-Factor.

Would like to think that most people are capable of rational, independent thought, but sadly the reverse is probably true.

My girlfriend seemed to think she hadn't been paid, I assured her she was wrong

Spokesman for the Sun was on raido 4 tonight and categorically denied she had been paid.
I think its a shame the Sun reported the story in such a biased way and didn't mention what a lovely gesture it was for him to actually handwrite a letter. I'm not his biggest fan but do feel he has been unfairly victimised for this. I don't feel anger towards the mother as I'd hate to think what state of mind she's in following such a tragic loss, its reported shes on tablets to help her sleep. Sounds to me more like the sun have shamelessly exploited her just to have a pop at Gordon brown.

Aww, lets all feel sorry for poor Gordon Brown.

He and his corrupt government have bankrupted the country to such an extent that we'll still be paying his debts in 20 years time. Not to mention signing the country over to Europe without his 'promised' referendum. Not to mention the loss of control of our borders, Not to mention flogging our gold reserves at the bottom of the market, we could go on all night......

So what if the Sun is unfairly treating him?? Good on them!

If he doesn't like it, resign and p*ss off so we can ELECT our own PM rather than this one who was imposed on us by the Labour Party, who have been thrashed in every election since he's been PM.

wonderful rant - can we have the alternative please
'corrupt govt' - presume this is expenses - common to all parties
'his debts' - well, decision made after bankers cock up - and without that expenditure we'd be in worse sh/te just now (can't say more, Mstr.Lloyd will !)
no promised referendum - hardly unique - but we were signed over to Europe years ago, by Tories
border controls - tightest they've ever been I suspect?
oh - and we still elect parties, not president's / PM

FWIW, don't like the sellout New in Labour, but the rant just seemed too trite
