Default Re: Tranmere - Chairman's statement

It was beneficial to us for Tranmere to stay down, although we can speculate about their budget, if they are in contention next year they are likely to bring at least 1300 fans to the Racecourse, that compares with Forest Greens 300. 1000 more fans paying around £17 a head, plus food and drink. Even a conservative estimate would say we are 15 k better off.

i beg to differ.. i think there will be 8 or 9 clubs at least with much more money at their disposal than us.

they may put budget figures out as xxxx amount of £s .. but they can and normally do spend way above their "budget"

budgets these days are not what is actually spent. hence why i feel we will be rather far down "actually spending power" list

I believe it's true to say we have exceeded our budgeted spend every year under Trust ownership.

Was pretty poor and with all the new teams with money to throw about, it will be a pretty level playing field, with everyone beating each other. They will be top 5 I imagine but it will be tougher to retain their best players for next season. Personally don't know if Mellons up to it either as I think he made some mistakes yesterday. He didn't nullify FG he just thought we can play our own game. Millsesq if you like. Especially taking C Jennings off who scored a great goal??
Tranmere haven't lost key players yet though so not quite the same as us.

I wonder if we managed to "save" any money getting so many off the wage bill although saying that, Keates signed a player or two.

I'm hoping Build the Budget, the summer gigs and anything was banked from players leaving will add 100k to the coffers which would amount to a couple of extra good players. We'll see.

I think our budget is normally around £750K and with the savings made by DK and build the budget id go for a very conservative guess of £800K+ this year.

I seem to have 660k in my head as a rumoured figure from last year but its reportedly going up this year ( the playing budget) + few fees and money carried out from last season + BTB. All conjecture and guesswork.

York City ended up with the 3rd highest wage bill last season with a total of 48 players signed/loaned.

After our 98 point season we were still top of the league for a while initially weren't we? We slacked off at the end of the season once we'd got around 80 points and had to rest people. Our squad had been substantially weakened though.

I'd expect Tranmere to make the play offs again. Won't necessarily be an easy trot to the title though.
