A flat back 4 is a must to try and defend efficiently as a unit. I would agree with you'r midfield, however personally I like the though of 3 behind Kelly to play a 4-3-1-2 so I'd go with this: Dibble Roberts Pearson Marx Jennings Hurst Wright Wedgbury Kelly Reid Boden. This formation gives us a solid midfield platform and is flexible enough to have two sitting while Wright bombs forward to support the attacks. This formation will get the best out of Kelly, who can roam and keep possesion ticking over in a central position. When without possession, he wont have to worry about the physical and defensive side too much because of the 3 behind him. Reid will benefit from Kelly's ability (and support from Wright) to play him in behind, while Boden can focus on getting into the box and adopting potential scoring positions rather than having to drop too deep to gather the ball. This is what I'd like to see however Keates wont change it in a million years because 4-4-2 is his chosen formation no matter what, so expect to see a flat 4 of Rutherford, Wedgbury, Wright and Kelly instead which would be a disappointing and ineffective set-up again. |

Re: Team for Woking
The most infuriating thing for me is that we've started the season as if pre-season didn't happen at all. Considering the work ethic of Keates and the presence of Darlington I didn't expect this.

Re: Team for Woking
It is the most annoying thing by far. 4-3-3 is perfect for this league. Can be very flexible as well, can change to 4-5-1 or even 4-4-2 if needed without the need for subs. I also think Boden would be better suited with a midfield 3 supporting him and decent service from the wide areas. But he seems obsessed with 4-4-2 for now, let's hope these suspensions force his hand.
