Re: South on Top !!!!
This very much backs up a previous thread which discussed the relationship between 'richer' areas (usually in the south of England) and, I appreciate this is a generalisation, the 'poorer' north. This doesn't impact on the Premier League because of TV money but at our level even a little money can go a long way.
I am more concerned that both Macclesfield and Maidstone, below us in the table, have only won one match each, but both against us. Dean still gets my support as this team is better than last years and I believe they can still improve, but is he the only person in north east Wales who fails to realise we are going nowhere without a striker? This has been clearly obvious for months now - put it right now! COYR |

Re: South on Top !!!!
Ignoring the fact that we're only 5 games in, maybe a bit of perspective. Lincoln, a northern team were promoted last year, Grimsby the year before them. Tranmere almost went up last year if it weren't for them being perennial bottlers. Granted you'd have Cheltenham and FGR in the same sample but hardly Sourthern dominance.
In League 2 last year it was an even split of Blackpool and Doncaster to Plymouth and Portsmouth. In League 1 it skews even more heavily towards the North, Sheffield United and Bolton promoted, against the South's Millwall. The other playoff contenders being Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Bradford, all Northern. And then above that, granted there's a lot more money involved so it probably isn't a fair reflection but still, Huddersfield and Newcastle promoted with Wednesday and Leeds also in the running. Give it a bit more time before declaring a Southern bias. |

This, I hasten to add, is only an opinion and may well not stand up to factual research - but it does feel a bit like that. Personally I support our fans ownership model but would be the first to accept it does have its limitations. Above all else it is sustainable and not subject to some rich guy all of a sudden losing interest or falling out with the tea lady. If we get the management right (and we may have done this) we will achieve our goals. |
