Default Where are the basics in this team/squad?

GK position well covered although a move for Coddington wouldn't go amiss.

FBs just not being allowed to push forward and support the midfield and attack - very poor and defensive tactics and also strangles the players abilities.

CBs - best pairing in the league but need experienced cover as Marx has concerns so maybe he needs to go out on loan or learn to communicate.

Midfield - lack of creativity shown by the lack of passing that goes through the middle. Wedgbury is little more than an average stopper, Wright is the pick of the bunch, Kelly seems to have the ability to provide creativity but is lost of the left. Rutherford should be LM for balance and work rate but still doesn't provide much creativity. Mackreth nothing more than a bit part player.
Hurst seems to have many yet no real positions.

Forwards - only Holroyd has shown any desire or ability, the others are not suited to the long ball holding game and are not showing much desire for the fight.

Other teams are improving - maybe in only 1 or 2 positions but improving nonetheless. If DK continues to ignore the problems I fear a slide down the league and also have major concerns for the forthcoming derby with a team with no fight.

Pretty much spot on, only missed 3 games all season and even the games that we won are lacking creativity and goal scoring ability.
The display last night did not show the fight that has got us through most victories, and I thought Fylde were way better than us in all departments.
i think we are punching way above our weight on current performances, and without some new blood the play offs will not even be achievable, never mind automatic promotion.

Added to this is that there are no outstanding teams running away with the league makes it even more frustrating.

Ffs pagl how does a team with no fight sit 3rd in the league, go 11 games unbeaten, win away at Dagenham and Tranmere, the latter with 10 men? Yes there are some glaring deficiencies and some under performers but the criticism on here is so over the top it becomes farcical.

Damn good question - hence my question where are the basics.

Up to now fight/desire have not been an issue but seems that lack of competition and a sense of complacency are creeping in.

We need to get back to some of the basics even if this means Massanka back up front for work rate rather than Reid/Boden. Lets face it its perm 1 from 3 without any real improvement.

Tight defence and a certain amount of luck. Dagenham were down to 10 men for two thirds of the match Pagl's assessment of the squad though is spot on. As for the criticism some of it is warranted with one or two players but for me the buck lies with Keates and his tactics plus the poor use of the loan system.

Missanka spends the entire session booting the ball onto the Chester Road.

I agree. Last night showed up the failings of our manager. Unable to change the system, no flair. no tactical know how.
What annoys me is we are so close yet so far. I just hope that we can somehow hang on in there until January.

Fair answer and yes competition for places is a concern but then we deliberately went for quality over quantity rather than signing a load of Bakares. The real concern is how the team appeard to fall apart without Pearson. Its not just that Marx is a poorer player its that there is then no talking or organisation so the whole defence is markedly weakened.

Frustrating but not disastrous and I fully expect us to make amends on Sat. Don't think we've lost back to back games this season?
