My ex mother in law used to call Denis Lawrence Wednesday because of his spindly legs. She said every time she saw them she thought "when's they gonna break?"

I used to call Sammy Aiston 'Square Foot' due to him playing like he wore a brick instead of a boot. Didn't catch on though.

Surely the best has to be former Australian rugby union captain John Eagles. Eales was apparently nicknamed "Nobody" because "Nobody's perfect". Although maybe apocryphal.

Yeti? Although I don't think it was very widely used.

Graham Whittle was Nosher (or Gnosher?) due to the speed he ate his food.

Alan Dwyer was Yorkie, no idea why.

John Roberts was Garth due to his physique.
