But for me if we don't get the quality signings in this transfer window we need, we might as well let Marc, Trams, and Shots get on with it. One of them will take the Championship with the other two in the play-offs and with the squad we have at present is just not good enough.
I dont think you'll find anyone who doesn't agree we need more quality in our squad to see out the rest of the season and still be challenging. But Macc fans are saying the same, their squad is thinner than ours and like us they are one or two injuries to critical players away from disaster. Aldershot are two points better than us having played a game more and have similarly patchy form and have just lost their best player. Tranmere are still behind us and got battered 5-1 recently. The players who sparked their revival are.gone and some of their key players are rumoured to be leaving this window.

All in saying is I wouldn't concede anything yet. If we fail to bring anyone decent in we may slide down the league but no other team is standing out to me as being head and shoulders above anyone else and they are all on a bit of a knife edge and could go either way.

It's all about a team that has different attributes. At the moment ours are defensive so let's see what DK can improve. Still a week to go before next game.

You have given 2 examples from the last 15 years, 1 before the the millionaire sugar daddies started buying success and 1 who made the most of their parachute payment.

No one is saying it can't be done and DK has put us in a good place with every chance of doing it this time, however stability is more likely to bring success to clubs, hence the 3.5 contract given to DK.

So somebody mentioned Spencer excited about some deal with Motherwell probably in lieu of Moult transfer fee. Any news on that one or was it false news?

Remember if we progress through the play offs we have to have a team capable of staying in league 2 and the best way is to have the bulk of the team in position and add on more than 6 decent players not a complete rebuild.
So there is an opportunity this year as the league is wide open, but the right players have to be signed , w ho should be with us for 2+ years.
I buy the 2 year project to a certain extent. It takes time to mould a team on a limited budget into promotion contenders. Stability is needed.

However when you get to top spot after 20 games of the first year of that project, you need to be making it a 1 year project.

Agree, why miss the opportunity when it arises. The money is available, it was raised to spend, not wait till next season.

Cheltenham might have had parachute payments but were also surviving on 1700 crowds and the time it was said our budget was higher, also the season Cheltenham won the league Forest green finished second so it was not before the sugar daddies tried to buy success!!

Apparently he's also said on Twitter that we will be 'very active' during the transfer window.

Whether that means we'll sign players or the lads will try extra hard in training I don't know?
