Operating a squad of so few players, scrapping reserves, still being distant with youth players, selling mince pies in order to raise money for BTB...none of those things point to long term thinking. One of the greatest myths around the club is that we don't "go for it" when there is so much first team focus and has been for ages. Two year deals for the right players are just common sense.

Yup; everything goes into the first team.

Everything else is effectively mothballed. It seems to me that nothing will change until promotion; which I can understand to a degree but let's not pretend that the club can see any further than the FL.

Everything hinges on promotion; which is why it's so vital we achieve this as soon as possible.

That goes for the manager too if a league club takes a fancy to him, we've all seen how much loyalty there is when a bit more money is in the air, we've suffered enough from this in the last 10 years. We have to strike when the iron is hot, we have a great chance of at least being in the mix at the end if Keates sorts out some decent signing soon. If Holroyd and Pearson continue as they are, do you seriously think they'll still be here in 12 months time.
Ian - please don't feint but I agree with you 100%. I believe we have an opportunity but I also believe(perhaps hope being honest) that DK and the team will take it and we will see a minimum of two signings before the end of the transfer window. As you say we need to be in the mix - Of course preferably champions but even 7th will do. Only problem is I am not sure my heart will take another Newport final.

Its always a 1 year project isn't it?
We may have some players on 2 year contracts but that isn't the whole team so in effect each season becomes a project to get promotion.

I guess that's what the worry is at the moment. We are so near yet so far.
Lets hope for activity this week.

I've been saying this most of the season that 2 to 3 yr projects is bollocks especially by a club with little money that will take the first spondoolies waved infront of them for their best players, every club whatever the league starts the season hoping to have a good one, unless one of the top 6 premiere teams they expect to challenge for the league.

Simply put if you are in a position to win the league you go for it, is Macclesfield on a 2 year project?

I swear we've been a "2 year project" since Kevin Wilkin took charge. It's a load of b0llocks.

Exactly for a club to have a plan 2yr whatever bollocks they need a youth team and a reserve team, their isn't any progression it's all today or bust every season.
