I completely disagree... Morrell took over and did well with Saunders team, but then had the impossible task of replacing our better players with a significantly reduced budget. Expectation never once changed.

Whatever people wish to call him, our manager in the last year has:-
  • Steered us from the trap door into deeper oblivion last season
  • Quickly got rid of the dross Mills signings
  • Assembled a totally new squad in the summer
  • Signed some real leaders of men on the pitch
  • Not made panic signings in January to sit on the bench
  • Brought some pride back to the whole town

With a few more tweaks and a bit more luck, we could well be in League 2 next season.

Yes although it will take a lot of luck and some ingenuity from DK to get us into the play offs and then to actually win them.

DK needs to be able to motivate these players better as we can see week in and week out the same players getting a 7 or 8 out of 10 and then those that are getting 5 & 6. We need a team of 7/10 players if/when we get to the play offs as we cannot continue to carry passengers as we have done even during this 11 game unbeaten spell.

best we can hope for now is try and cement 2nd or 3rd place.

home advantage one off game

massive support with a full house plus if we did win, a massive following to wembley.

i wonder what a wembley attendance would be if we met Tranmere in the final

50k-60k

Keates real problem is the team have actually over performed this season. After the mess Mills left, if he had re-built the side and got us to the fringes of the play offs the majority of the regulars would have been happy.

The fact we have been virtually encamped in the top seven since early on in the season means expectations rose, and now we all feel flat because we might end up in the fringes of the play offs.

That said, I do think we should have done better in the January window. The impression was given that we entered that period and then started to create a plan.

We openly said we would wait to see what was left at the end of the month......and got what most of us expected. Players with a great future behind them.

I was right with you for the first half.

I think the reason for the frustration, is that we got ourselves into a position, where seemingly the league was they for the taking. And it looks like it could be won with the lowest point total in years, and not by a sugar daddy led band of mercenaries. In fact the antithesis.

And we appear to have blown it.

I would have taken 3rd at the start of the season, and that would have been an over achievement. Offered me third in 3rd in January however, and thats deemed as an underachievement. Whereas I think the league season needs to be taken as whole. And therefore 3rd is till an excellent achievement.
