Last year we got into a real mess with these contracts that auto renew after 30 starts, under a lesser manager than Keates it could have been disastrous.
On the Dragonheart Podcast, discussing Sam Wedgebury's new contract Dean Keates said that he had activated a trigger. Now I'm fully supportive of tying the Wedge down for next year but does this indicate the club are still offering these stupid contracts that got us in trouble last year and Jester this year?

We can’t make contracts so unattractive that players won’t sign them. If wedgebury hit a target and triggered a extension then so be it. If dean didn’t think he was good enough then he would have shipped him out in January

This may explain the Boden mystery .By my reckoning he started 21 games and come on as sub 8 times.A total of 29..Could he be 1 game short to trigger another contract?.Hence is disappearance from the squad?

Does make sense. I don't have a problem with 30 game clauses as long as the quality is high which it wasn't last season, hence the problem. Typical RP though when we are on a perceived poor run everyone and everything is there to be slagged off. Pretty sick of it to be honest, I'm off on hols tomorrow anyway so will have a rest from you all.

It was explained, Wedge would have got 2 year deal but had a knee injury last year so a second year was dependant on proving his fitness and playing so many games. Sounds sensible

Yes that is sensible. The same principle may have applied to Boden too but the final verdict is different. Just speculation.
