Re: Maidstone reaction
We just about got our the line today. Not a great performance. The midfield did not dominate once again, and our attacking play is predictable and boring to watch. Never do we see Kelly, or wedgebury pass forward and actually move themselves forward into space looking for the return. Our crosses are always the same looped ball into the area. Why not mix it up and smash it low occasionally?
I may sound over the top in my next statement, but Ainge looks like a pub player coming off the bench. Slow, carrying too much weight and barely touched the ball. Maybe I’m missing the positives, but hardly a game changer coming off the bench. I thought Quigley looked our biggest threat. Kelly flatters to deceive in open play, but does provide quality at set pieces. Rutherford poor, wedgebury poor, and Deverdics anonymous out wide. Roberts had a decent game against pacy winger. Another massive criticism is the playacting. Wedgebury and Jennings particularly today need to stop pissing about rolling around on the floor, whilst the game continues around them. It’s not what I want to see. |

Re: Maidstone reaction
Great relief and celebrations. The two ball boys were delighted also.

Re: Maidstone reaction
Our tactics have changed as on most occasions we played the ballthrough midfield instead of just hoofing it. Even Dunn was passing it on the ground when he could.
I thought or midfield dominated for the first 30 minutes and could or perhaps should have been 3-0 up, then they got more of a grip and we reverted to kind. Deverdics did one good through ball to Holroyd and apart from that nothing. Think Ainge should have been first substitute for Deverdics and then more Holroyd out wide. Obviously Ainge isn't built for speed , but he does flick a few headers on, which Quigley could have run onto. Franks showed nothing when he came on. I thought they were going to nick it so thank goodness for out captain. The referee was crap and a good job the linesman flagged for the foul on Quigley, that we scored from as the referee wasn't going to give it! |

Re: Maidstone reaction
Should have been all over after 20 mins but we failed to take our chances, Their goalkeeper played a blinder( sign him on for next season great in the air and brave) Second half we lost our way at times too many high ball playing right into their hands, They like us never looked like scoring, but a great strike by Pearson, no wonder they had three marking him in the first half at corners and free kicks. What a relief when we finally got the ball in the net.

Re: Maidstone reaction
Pearson and Smith have carried us all season and are still doing so. This side is miles off being ready to copy in League 2. If we go up it’s not going to be pleasant and another season of development would be useful.
