I do understand the pessimism and negativity, but it’s not more of the same.

Maybe, just maybe, Ricketts isn’t the dumbo who is happy with mediocrity that some on here make him out to be. Perhaps having played this game at a very high level he may actually have a clue?

I don’t know about you, but I support a football team in order to bring some pleasure and optimism into my life. Not to make it an ever more miserable dirge of self pity.
I'll support this club forever but it hasn't given me an ounce of pleasure in years.

Let some optimism into your life. It makes it more enjoyable.

Maybe this will be the season.

All those writing off our team before a ball has been kicked are so boring. What’s the point?

This time last year we were hell bent on a small squad, scrapped the reserves, started pre-season with 14 men and padded crucial positions out with loans. This is what is happening again. Ricketts may have a clue but the best way to demonstrate that would be to right those wrongs rather than repeat them. All of this is against a backdrop of a football operation being stripped back to the absolute minimum. Optimism is great but you can't force it against people's cold analysis of the situation. Some are moaners but others of us would rather not feel like this.

Also loving the continued myth that Mills liked a big squad. He likes dipping into the market all the time but he could only cope with 18 players at once.

How big was Macclesfield’s squad? Fylde’s was smaller than ours too.

Similar size to ours and supplemented with loan signings

Perhaps it is not Rickett's fault, maybe his Controller is preventing himfrom signing
the player's he wants.ie not willing to pay the going rate for the right player.
All boils down to WST board dictating the term, they are a bunch of clerks
who are only capable of moving paperwork and with the help of supporters
keeping the books nice and dry in the event that something goes wrong.
Come on take a Gamble and give the manager the funds he needs to get us
a decent team and RETAIN the good ones we have

No idea, but I've watched managers try that here for three years and make a shabby job of it. If those clubs have that track record alongside no youth system of note, no reserves and no money then they did really well. Ultimately the proof of the pudding is in the eating; so far this approach looks like a total folly and if it does so again then what? I'd rather we got our act together before we were tied to this approach for the foreseeable future but suspect it's already too late to change.
