Re: Transfer rumours, speculation and associated discussion - summer 2018
Having read the article in The Leader I am becoming a little concerned with the apparent laissez-faire attitude to recruitment. Which I am sure is not the case, but the lack of communication on the issue prior to this interview has been frustrating. It may be a front from the club trying to put a positive spin on, what on the face of it appear to be struggles in the transfer market. I would expected that behind this facade there are serious discussions being had about the lack of transfer activity.
It is apparent that we have a dedicated and hardworking board but I wonder if are we being encumbered by not having an experienced football person directly involved. I say this with slight reticence after the failure of Barry Horne to have any great impact. However, judging by the travails we have had with both player and coaching staff recruitment I feel a head of recruitment from a football background might be required. To manage the process of staff/player departures as well, the way we lost Wedgebury being a case in point; a fee could and possibly should have been secured for him. We have brought in a young and inexperienced manger to try and manage a recruitment process, which I believe is new to him. The board have been through the process but I guess aren't able to manage the process full time; please correct me if I am incorrect. I hope that the next 2 weeks prove me wrong. That we see the club appoint a experienced number 2 to Sam and players of the requisite quality to be competitive.

Perhaps because Wolves used the loan system to the limit of (but within) the rules last season and won the title by a country mile SR plans the same - hopefully with the same end result |

It amazes me how many people can’t grasp this. It’s a rubbish situation but nobody’s fault. If he wants to stay part-time, keep his job in the Countess but have a chance to play football as well then Chester would be firmly in the driver’s seat for him. |
