I don't think one up front at home is attack minded enough unless you have fullbacks who can get forward and back, Jennings tries but usually ends up losing the ball and is slow getting back.

Work needed on our formation and getting players in the box, last night I thought when Fondup went off Beavon improved us, I would rest Fondup Saturday as he looks goosed and give Pyke and Maguire-Drew with Beavon a go in a 433

Some good points.
I think both FBs have the same limitations.
Communication in terms of the LM & RM that is playing in front of them and they don't really help the player from a positional perspective. As you indicate then JMD looked lost first half and Jennings really should have been telling him that he was wandering rather than sticking to his task and position on the pitch.
Providing width going forward is limited and also late in closing down the opposition wide players.

Fondop is going to tire quickly if we continue to leave him isolated and Sam is going to have to make a decision in his formation. Does he use Beavon to support MTF in a front 2, does he have JMD and Rutherford supporting him in a front 3 or is he going the 4231 route and the 3 attacking midfielders support him.

The game last night showed that the midfield 3 of Young, Wright and Summerfield was disjointed - especially first half - and we conceded the midfield in exactly the same way we did last season. The argument here is that the formation needs to suit the players rather than shoehorn square pegs in round holes.

Do Brighton have a recall clause?

There's no recall clause allowed in a long term loan.

Can't see any desire for Brighton to recall him - even if it were possible - probably loaned to us in an effort to keep him playing competitively and give him game time so I'm sure he will be staying for the duration.

Totally agree with the earlier comments - last night he was often playing left back behind Jennings - god knows how he kept getting in that position but he's the last player we should have defending.

Similarly at every free kick and corner both Pearson and Manny Smith joined 'Big Mike' up front - interestingly I watched the positioning and who stayed back which invariably was Roberts & Jennings.

Perhaps the left flank needs some work in training - it didn't look as good as the right flank in pre season but JMD, Jennings and the left sided midfielder need some better organization work if we are to both attack and defend as a more effective unit.

The alternative would be to swap JMD to the right and put Rutherford on the left.

Only one that can be recalled in January is Hinds I believe.

Sorry for being a killjoy and this has nothing to do JMD.
Last night was the 2nd game of the season and it was obvious that some things are still being worked out. It was also obvious that some were blowing through their a**e towards the end but we never gave up attacking. I think we'll be better when the fitness levels improve. JMD will be better for a run in the team. Where Holroyd, Deverdics and Hinds will fit into this team goodness only knows
