Re: Hinds
It's been a very long time since we have had such quality competition for places.
Along with with the 10 points already gained and the great team spirit this can only only bode well for the season ahead.

Re: Hinds
Thinking about it in the 4 games we have had to chop and change a bit. Still think theres plenty more to come once everything gets settled down a bit more. Do think this season anyone not giving 100% will be out of the squad with depth and quality we have.

Re: Hinds
Bristol City think a lot about this player and like others have said he was possibly vying with Maguire Drew as our most exciting signing. Nobody seems to know properly whether he has been injured or not. What is surely highly possible is that if he continues to fail to get any pitch time or even on the bench, he'll be back to Bristol and loaned out to a club who will make use of him as he is at a key stage of his development. As I say if he has been injured then that would prevent this, but for how long ?

Re: Hinds
In honesty it will be hard to drop either Pyke or Big Mike given the way they both played on Tuesday night. Can see Hinds being an impact sub to begin with before pushing for a start. He (Hinds) seemed quite slight which was the only concern given that most teams in our league have whopping 6ft 3+ centre backs so playing the ball on the deck or over the top to run onto would have to be the way forward, whereas at present there is more of a front two hold the ball up and lay in off then get in the box to get onto crosses tactic. Will also be interesting to see where Holroyd fits in (played right midfield when he came on Tuesday), great to have genuine competition for places and allows the manager to even consider an element of rotation (could be key when we have fixtures such as Havant away and Gateshead away on consecutive match days in late Feb - who sorts these fixtures?! )

Re: Hinds
Difficult to say at this stage having not seen Hinds - but at some point he will get his chance and will have to be ready to take it - if he performs then no doubt the cream will rise to the top and he will become a regular starter.
It's early days - Ricketts has tough decisions to make but as others have commented, we now have the ability to do a bit of rotation and the ability to put out a very strong bench in comparison to recent seasons. At the moment the pitches are lush and dry but as the year progresses they will become heavier - there is a long way to go and some players will adapt better than others - some will drop form and others will be better suited to the formation and work better dependent on who they have playing alongside them - Ricketts will also be in an experimental period to find the best mix - a nice situation to be in - far stronger than the situation we had under Keates - suddenly we have an abundance of striking options. |
