First third of the season review
I have to say that we've over achieved on points gained vs performances but that's mostly down to our mean defence. If we can hang in there until January, make the 2-3 key signings we need then we've got every chance. So far.....so good COYR |

Re: First third of the season review
Good news story:
10 wins 4 draws from 16 games, is the form of champions. Coping well with injuries, good balance and strength in depth in the squad. Potential to get better with continued improvement from our younger players. Well placed financially to allow SDR tge ability to get 1 or 2 key players in when required. Rookie manager learning fast. A long way to go but we are in the mix. |

Re: First third of the season review
Couldn't be happier to be wrong. I thought we'd be low play-offs at best this season, but 2nd on goal difference is a fantastic achievement, especially when top is the team that's trying to buy the league.
The boxing day/new year's day Salford games might just decide the league. It's pretty much a 12-pointer week (plus a strong Solihull Moors side in the middle), that will separate the men from the boys. But I'm looking ahead. We've still got 2 months and hopefully a decent cup run to look at before then. |

Re: First third of the season review
Can't say we've "over-performed" if we are joint top at this stage. The table does not lie after this many games. Let's enjoy the ride. My annual ten quid bet on our promotion will surely win soon

Re: First third of the season review
To be fair he said we had over achieved based on performance rather than over performed.
We have played poor in several games or periods of games but still come out with the result. I'm very happy with it so far but we need to be more clinical and control games more. |

Re: First third of the season review
BOTK, yeh I agree. Results better than performances and the mean defence provides the base for the narrow wins.
Room for improvement in a number of areas to be title contenders. However league position is as good as anyone could have imagined at this point. Sam has made a superb start to his management career and I feel he will have the courage for some big decisions over the next few months. A decent FA cup result would be a bit of icing at the moment. |
