Followed by lainton, carra, jennings and summerfield
Still hoping grant shows what hes capable of before the end of the season too

Why Summerfield? When the going gets tough Summerfield goes missing. Will have to show form from years gone past to deserve another contract.

He’s overall one of the best players we’ve had in this league. Not quite at Keates, Ashton and Pearson legendary status but not too far off. Carra is the ultimate pro, he does everything right on and off the pitch. I think he’s good enough to play in the league anyway. I’d offer him another deal straight away regardless but we know he’s happy and settled here and would sign a deal no problem.

His form really tailed off before his injury but for the majority of the season he's been excellent.

Seemed to be affected badly by the off field Ricketts/ Barrow/ Newell shinanegins as he was probably our 2nd best player behing Pearson prior to Ricketts upping sticks although the whole team were affected to a lesser extent hence the 5 defeats in a row.

He's going to struggle to get back in now

True, where would we have been at Xmas without Summerfield's assists and influence. He was a shoe in until his injury and even in January when his form did seen to dip he was the player in midfield who wanted the ball and was trying to get us playing on the floor. It's great news Akil and Young have stepped up since then and the rest of the team have hit form, but there is long way to go and it is vital that all our players are available let alone our better ones. SR did well to get him here and without any fitness doubts, we would be daft not to keep him.

Obviously SR leaving and much goung on behind the scenes did us no favours but I'm not sure how much the players knew about Barrow and what was going on, or certainly how much it affected things at training and in games, but there were other factors that probably did effect things. The Walker transfer saga and him not being available, new players coming in, who needed time to settle in, a couple of key injuries and the horrendous schedule of games in such a short timeframe. Confidence is key and it can soon be dented with a couple of defeats. All in all it meant players were very leggy until they had a decent break and they bounced back.

I think Barrow's team selection and tactics against Fylde both baffled and alienated some of the players not to mention the travelling fans.

Yes Jenno & Tollitt not involved looks a bad call after the last 3 games and not sure of his reasons, but regardless we should have won that game but similar to a number of games we have struggled to get a goal when on top and the first goal either way wins the game. Maybe it gave both of them a kick up the backside.
