Default Lack of first-half goals

Wrexham have not scored a goal in the first 45 minutes of play since the Boxing Day bonanza against Salford. That is 10 league matches and 1 Trophy tie. Hopefully, this run will come to an end on Saturday.

On the Trophy, why did the Fylde game go to extra time and penalties but the game at Stockport goes to a replay at Maidstone?

Agreed, a worrying statistic but a chance to break the duck at home against a poor Chesterfield side, though they have turned it around somewhat from the football played under Martin Allen.

That's because Fylde agreed with Barnet to go to ET and penalties. If both agree to it they can do that, if not it'll go to a replay.

Not bothered if they are all in the second half as long as we win......

Our massive floodlights blind the opposition defence in the second half

Our real problem is, and has been for a long time, lack of goals in general. Goal difference is always against us at the end of the season. Hopefully, this is starting to change.

Whilst getting an early goal is nice, as long as we are winning then I am happy enough.

We seem to be a 'confidence' team. If we score early in a half we seem to run rampant for a period (Ebbsfleet, Salford, Boston, Havant, Boreham Wood).

The longer we don't score we seem to lose confidence.

Made the same point on 1 of the goal scoring threads.
The main problem is (no apologies for keep on making the same point) is hitting the F target. Look at the highlights again for Saturdays game.

Firstly Young and Tollitt get in each others way on 1 chance and it gets wasted.
Rutherford chips the keeper and the bar, Walker leans back and over the bar, Oswell tame header and keeper collects wide of the post...….and so the story goes on.

Even the goal was a shot that hit the post and it seems Stockton is lucky to get in before the keeper.

Also an improvement of balls into the box as often we score when JJ puts low and hard across the face of goal and none of this chipped in the air rubbish.

Lucky or reacted quicker than the keeper?

The point is the first shot hit the post, so lucky as it could have gone anywhere and even out for a corner. Lucky it rebounded to him.
Its about being more clinical, just imagine what putting 1 in 2 in target would do as an improvement. I used to play up front and practised turn and shoot over and over again to hit the target more often. Even with 5 a side goals.
