While the immediate target continues to be promotion out of the National League, Flynn also admitted he hopes to see Wrexham one day return to their former heights.

And he hopes his experience – including building up scouting knowledge in stints with Swansea and Norwich City – will prove valuable for Hughes and the backroom team.

The local press will never ask anything that hasn’t been sanctioned by the club. They are too comfortable in their role and don’t want to rock the boat. Any decent journalist would ask probing questions and be looking to further their career. What we have is just a glorified in house reporter.

All local paper reporters across the country are in the same boat, upset the management and you could lose access to the club and players. Famously Ferguson banned reporters who criticised him and/or his Manchester United team from the ground.

Fat chance. You only have to read the kop out morrell34 offered for his 'lets blame the fans piece' and then declined to go and ask some questions of the board which were perfectly reasonable given what happened. They terrified of upsetting the club and loosing their free access to games etc.

I’m not asking them to criticise the club, just for them to have the balls to ask a decent question.
