Feel sorry for Hughes but the decision had to be made.
Had he lost the players? Or are they disenchanted with Darlington?
If its the former, then we should expect a positive response on Saturday. If the latter, I really do expect Ebbsfleet will be leaving with the 3 points.

Crucial appointment to be made, but they must be allowed to decide whether they want Darlington there or not.

Flynn will go, I have no doubt about it, he already has work elsewhere anyway.

How can this happen ? They are all contracted players, and whilst the odd one may be able to find another club mid season, the others would need contracts paying off !! We would never be able to afford it.

Whilst Hughes was ultimately responsible for footballing matters he has been let down by players and Board. Most of our players are adequate for this league but, collectively, are not good enough for promotion. If the players have been deliberately underperforming — and I suggest there is evidence of this — then it is unprofessional of them. However, the pertinent question is: why?

Was it an individual? Or was it the whole management team? I do not know.

But they must respond on Saturday, hence why I would put Carrington in charge. He is an intelligent player and, more importantly, he is both liked and respected by the players. He knows their strengths and weaknesses, so should be able to select a starting XI good enough to contain the mighty Ebbsfleet — who have also gone through a similar process to us — and motivate them to win it. If the captain and players do not respond positively, then I suggest we must make an example of the ring-leaders by shipping them out on loan.

We need everyone committed 100% to the cause, otherwise this slump will rapidly escalate into a crisis. The next manager will have his work cut out. The names being bandied about do not fill me with confidence.

It's clouded in language designed not to leave them liable for anything. Or maybe it was the language agreed with Hughes?
