Really good result. My take on the game is that we did very well first 20 minutes and scored two excellent goals. The game plan was then to try to make sure sure that we did not concede. Hence the wing backs concentrated on their defensive jobs and rarely pushed on to support Hooper Grant and Redmond. It does not make for the entertaining football that I love to watch. However if i have a choice between attacking football and losing and defensive football and winning it is always the win for me. I know there are no certainties and you can still concede while keeping it tight at the back. However you wont be caught on the break as you can be by pushing on. Quote Alan Hanson "We won loads of games 1 0. We would score 0ne and then kill the game." Worked well for his team.

You're comparing football today at the bottom of the National league with 80s football by a then top division one club.. Good grief.. Yes Keates is a top class manager lol all he needs to do now is learn to win away consistently and Premier league clubs will come calling.

Correct.

We were fantastic for the first 15 minutes - but it is a very dangerous situation to go up by two goals so early, then in my view as we did yesterday - take our foot off the gas. For those first minutes I doubt Chorley set foot out of their own half - so why change it - just keep playing as you were. Instead we let Chorley come back at us, they got stronger as the half rolled on and we did what we do frequently, fall deeper and deeper - if the penalty had gone in it could have been a different game.

The team is a bit Jekyll & Hyde - we can play well one week and poor the next especially when away from home - also applies within 90 minutes - good at times and then it's almost like we invite the opposition to get a foothold back in the game and attack us - sometimes wonder if it's a deliberate ploy - absorb attacks and rest then hit the opposition on the attack - it worked a treat for Sutton last week.

Agree with this. We could have scored a hat full on boxing day if we kept playing football as they were dreadful at the back. The sitting back could have cost us but for Holroyds poor pen.

True, although if you're going to covert poor pens to good pens the table would look a bit different.

We surrendered the momentum and that could have bit us on the arse. Great to see Keates stood statuesque on the sidelines whilst Chorley were allowed to come at us wave after wave.

Had they scored instead of hitting the side netting early on
, or stuck the penalty away we would have been struggling to hang on until half time.

Shit tactics once again.

Great link up play with Redmond and Hooper and would love to see a lot more of that between now and the end of season.

I really do like Hooper. He has pace, good control and is composed in front of goal, great to see him bag a couple of goals.
