Re: Play on the pitch
Very interesting that you kindly offer a ray of hope JND but it's sadly 56 years too late. Stuart Mason and I were contesting for the right back position all those years ago as youngsters - I didn't think there was that much in it until my own Dad said quietly 'he's ten times better that you son, have you ever considered cricket?'

Just had a look at the official site under 'news' - the entry about this event is a bit vague - £500 big and clear but duration of booking and how many people can be included in a team are not specified - perhaps everything is negotiable. |

One snapped his Achilles. Was off work for months, and is still having physio now. Another wrecked his back. The other did his cruciate ligament. All three were fit in many ways, one a regular cyclist, one a regular rugby player, one a cricketer. But as Red Light says, this kind of game is something else in terms of the fitness level and readiness required. So do take care guys, in the preparation for it. As for the question on length of the game, you are right, a lot of it is down to how quickly everyone is out on the pitch, warmed up, team photo taken, and get the game going. With one eye on the need to finish it to give you all time to get back through the changing rooms and out before the next booking needs to use them. So, typically you will get something between 60 and 75 mins, but the more efficient we all are in getting ready to start, the more game time you should get. The substitutes question for funding the game, you have to take into account that although there’s unlimited subs, and roll on roll off, you can’t realistically expect everyone to pay full whack if they don’t get a full game. So, if you have thirty players, you still have to account for people paying for the amount of game time they got, you will need at least £50 each across the squad to cover the £600 per team. I’m fielding two teams again this time, and I’m having to beat people off with a sh1tty stick (still got a list of 15 more players to contact and we have 26 takers already). But if anyone can’t get in a team, etc, there’s no harm in posting on here, near the time of the event, and anyone who suddenly loses a player or two, will then get in touch with you, and offer you a game, me included. Hope this helps. Last edited by WrexSi; 20th February 2020 at 19.25:35.. |
