Default Re: Yeovil (A 3-0) Reaction

Their forward had done this two or three times previously, psyched Lainton who was clearly frustrated, but massive error nonetheless and has cost us. Honestly believe we could have held out for an ugly 0-0 draw without this cock-up. Onward and onwards ..........

Lainton was probably just making a protest against people getting his name wrong.

Whats more interesting in that article is the description of a clever tactic used by an opposition manager to create that goal. When did Wrexham last try something like this?

I agree, with the exception of at Chesterfield, when we have fallen behind we have played very poorly, the confidence seems to get sucked out of us. Sutton, Maidenhead, Aldershot and Yeovil. We don’t seem to have the ability to raise our game or change to plan B when we fall behind. If we score first, confidence seems to grow and we play well.

So hopefully we score first and early against Eastleigh.

Problem we have is Hughes built an appalling team.
Keates came in and managed to tweak a few things to create a bad team
Then in January he signed a few on loan and made them a poor team

Progress? Probably.

But far from good enough and still capable of ending up in the bottom four.

If you delete ‘poor’ and insert ‘bang average, at times’ I would agree. There has been an improvement but, as yet, it is way short of what is demanded. However, the important thing is whether it is sufficient to ensure we avoid relegation.

If we can win 4 or 5 games — likely to be home games — then it will be enough. Lose on Saturday and we will lose the fingertip control we currently have.

It’s squeaky-bum time until we gather 50 or more points!

I understand the point that article is getting at, but why is lainton taking that risk?

If the yeovil player is in front of him, stopping him kicking, then Lainton needs to be using that to our advantage by not kicking and protesting to the referee. After all, we are the poor strugglers, so we should be using that to slow the game down and frustrate the opposition.
