So your point is what exactly??

If I was going to pitch for new business, I would have soundbites planned.
If I was going for a job interview I would have soundbites planned even for the ability and task questions.

If I was buying a house, I'd have soundbites planned for the vendor.

If I was on a first date, I'd have soundbites planned.

It's called preparation.

Let's discuss the deal, let's evaluate the deal, let's evaluate the alternative? Let's not get petty.

Are people thick? No they recognise banter and people attempting rapport.

Yep.

I personally appreciated the effort to establish some common ground. I also appreciated their comments about not having a plan other than to bring in an experience chief before really making a plan... It shows an acknowledgement of them not having the knowledge or experience to get into the granular detail on footballing matters. Decent self awareness... Absolutely vital, I'd accept a chairman telling me they don't have all the skills necessary to do the job over someone telling me they do have all the skills to do the job despite results saying otherwise.

They are hurting. Spare a thought for those at JCP as their dreams of non league and the WPL are being crushed. Bless.

Isn't one of the signs of good leadership employing people to tell you what to do, rather than employing them for you to tell them what to do? Which is what Rob and Ryan said regards bringing in their CEO.

And whenever you give an important presentation always include "a hook" - something memorable that people can latch onto so that your underlying message stays in peoples minds.

Their talk last night was littered with "hooks", which for me showed they had taken their time in preparing and knew what they were doing.

While Ryan was quick to point out we know more about football than they do, it was also obvious that they know more about running a successful business than we do.

Ever so glad they didn’t fall into the elephant-trap that is a PowerPoint presentation, and they rightly dismissed what could be expected over the first 100 days.

This was a ‘hearts and minds’ job to sell hope to the fans and community.

Behind the casual front are 2 serious business men who know what they want, how to get it, and have the resources to trigger a self-financing club.

For me, the most important ‘slip’ was they do not run things by committee, as per the WST-model. They employ experts to give them advice, then they act appropriately.

The fact that some fans have focused on their ‘sound bites’ indicates there are few chinks in their armour provided we give the WST a mandate to sell for a ‘peppercorn’, which then allows R&R the opportunity to sort out the new CEO and management team that is essential to deliver success.

PS I hope the WST mounts the ‘peppercorn’ for display in the football stadium. We can all then admire it and say, ‘Tasty football; it starts again!’
