i had read in one of A N Palmers books printed early 20th century that Caergwrle and Gwersyllt had been cymricised from earlier saxon nameplaces which should not be confused with the area being originally saxon as the whole of the island of Britain was "celtic" before the even the Romans, saxons invaded and renamed certain places that were very small hamlets but all physical features such as rivers, valleys and mountains retained their cymric names as did the fields surrounding the saxon plantations which were eventually returned to welsh/celtic settlements
