He doesn't have to but midfield is his preferred position according to 2 recent interviews. He wasnt too specific about the exact role in midfield but he says he doesn't mind filling in in other positions.

I guess DK has brought him in for his talent & versatility, but I'm not sure he would be effective as a left winger and probably be better on the right cutting in on his left (which seems the most popular positions for left.
footers). I've been proved wrong many times but I think with a bit more experience and a bit more street wise Davies will make an excellent holding midfielder spraying passes around

I believe Davies played left back and wing back at Bangor before Brighton converted him to playing higher up. I thought he was poor, got caught in possession and jumped into a few tackles playing there whilst Reckord was out, but having said that his first few games in midfield he was a bit lightweight and was knocked off the ball.

Reckord has been inconsistent but I believe he has improved, recently and he is better defensively than Davies, has put better deliveries into the strikers and grabbed a couple of goals and seems to in where it hurts when the right wing back gets decent balls in.

You don't have him as a holding midfielder, you have him playing further forward than that. If you think he'd make a good holding midfielder why don't you drop him deeper and field Jarvis? I think we have some disagreement on Jarvis's ability as I see him as a player we should be desperate to field at this level where I can take or leave Young. Horsfield hasn't played well in midfield and Harris is far too ill disciplined for me and has been a liability more often than not this season.

I feel those dropping Jarvis are doing so based off the recent 4-1 win against one of the poorest sides in this league where he didn't play a part. People were singing his praises before.

in a back 3, he has to play the centre. would you have him over kelleher there?

maybe he should be, maybe not. but thats the choice.

You can only judge them as you see them now.

Pearson has had his issues for a couple of seasons whereas Kelleher has been fit (and playing well) all season. Of course, Pearson from a couple of seasons ago would be the first name on the team sheet.

Kelleher is ,for me, a much better player. Maybe Jackoboy's idea to play them together makes some sense but I wonder if that would work in terms of character ? Pearson is ,for me, not the demi-god some make him out to be and went missing when we needed him most.

Davies is the finished article yet and playing number 10 gives him a bit more freedom and not have to be so disciplined but at the minute I would be happy with him Harris and Young in any combination as the 3, but we do need another proper centre mid to push them and provide more cover.

Jarvis is talented and needs minutes but not sure playing him and Davies together in a 3 would stand up against the physicality most teams have. No doubt they will get their chance to prove it.

Heard it all now, Carra the central midfielder by trade who is so good there that about 8 managers have played him anywhere else but there! Dont get the Young hate he is our only midfield goal threat, set pieces and penalty taker and always puts in 100% effort in a team where midfield ate regularly bypassed

I think its Kelleher or Pearson as both would be too immobile and I think Vassell and French offer more.
