Default Quiet dismantling of the CoE

I hadn't realised until told the other day that they had started removing age groups from the CoE.

No U7s, U8s or U9s and next year no U10s.

They haven't bothered with the old U7s sessions for a number of years meaning its reduced by a year group every year for a number of years.

All kept under the radar and from the supporters.

At least all the stops have been pulled out to get the youth team some prestigious games now they are back - Connahs Quay twice.

Please new CEO get some arses kicked and get this back on its feet so the kids of Wrexham have somewhere to go and we can at least aim to get back on par with Chester, TNS, Airbus and Connahs Quay at some point.

Should be something very close to the top of the agenda. I'm sure the new CEO will be aware of what is needed.

Burton have clearly built up theirs very well in the last decade or so. Obviously FL funding has helped. https://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/aca...-introduction/

OUR STRUCTURE
- Equivalent of 10 full-time staff

- 42 people involved in delivering the Academy including everyone from the part-time coaches to the Academy chaplain

- More than 120 registered players

- Activity on a daily basis from ages 9-18

- Category 3 status
I know we can't suddenly expect everything to turn out like Burton, but it's good to see what can be done.

Absolutely criminal what the WST did to the prized youth system at Wrexham FC.

It wasn't a nice to have. This was the fundamental future of the club so indicates where the WST were taking us.To oblivion.

I have faith that our new CEO backed by R&R will restore our youth system to its former glory and actually make it better than before. Let's see what exactly Fleur's vision is..

It would be brilliant to see our youth players retained to provide a steady stream of talent to the first team and also restore a reserve team to integrate returning injured players to action and give the youth players that crucial step to senior football but protecting them from the huge step up to first team football.

Let's look to a brighter future but not forget the mistakes of the past.

For everyone of us who pines for the type of team we had in the 70s, let's not forget that it was built on homegrown talent that progressed through an excellent youth system.
Absolutely we need to invest in that again as we move forward.

Let's hope this puts to bed the myth that the WST was more interested in community ventures than the actual football.

And propagates (sic) the reality that the WST was either extremely unwilling to admit they had serious limitations, or severely short sighted in terms of harnessing the barter and financial value of players developed and blooded by the COE.

Heard a tale the other day of a youngster who wanted to play for Wrexham and had a very good reputation for his age.

After a trial he was told they were really interested in him joining and would be in touch, but after months of hearing nothing, he contacted them to be told they were unable to offer him anything.

He eventually signed for the youth academy in TNS and has now got Wolves and Aston Villa fighting over him. Tragic.

All this was done to save money to reduce costs due to the continued bad decisions involving the first team. How many other teams have we heard paying off players contracts and stopping them from playing more games so new contracts don’t kick in. Shocking management of a so called professional football club, no wonder they were threatened by any outsiders getting on the board as this deliberate dismantling of the business had to be hidden to protect those in the Ivory Tower.
