Racecourse Pitch To Be Replaced

Not surprised.

Since the pre season friendly I’ve commented on how easily it cuts up, well ploughs up.
Dangerous, and come the winter it will be unplayable.

It looks like the seed hasn’t adhered to the base layer. It was reseeded in the summer not returfed.
This time it is being returfed. Didn’t Sutton do this with their artificial pitch over the summer and claimed to have cost £250k, with their first few games then being played away from home.

It’s certainly a job that needs doing, but it won’t come cheap - but at least we have the money.

They will be investing in a Grow Light System (see link below). This is the only way the hybrid grass will grow during the winter months.

Always thought it was cutting up too much. In terms of the weather etc its the perfect time of year to lay turf - only problem is playing on it.

They probably have photosynthetic lighting equipment to help the grass grow.

The specialist contractor that removed the old pitch and prepared and laid the new surface must be very worried indeed.....unless they have come to a deal to relay another new surface for a nominal figure?
