Default Re: Can money buy the soul of a club ? Why am I falling out of love with wfc ?

60 years following this club and the time's iv walked out of the Racecourse and said "never again" and iv gone back, this club is like an addiction.
14 years in this godforsaken league with no hope, 18 months of this shit Chovid then Saturday, what a day, it was a pure row emotion with everyone with a smile on their faces, I want more of it not less.
It might not be this season but it will, because we have hope now.

Maybe it's the reality of how poor this season has been. Can you always buy success?there are a lot of teams that have found otherwise?
Would keates have done better with this team?
Am i in a minority?? Answers on a postcard!
we go again

I don't think the comparisons to Man City and Chelsea are fair. Yes we will see a huge investment in the playing side of things. And that will drive hype.

But you only have to look at what they have done both before their visit, but also whilst they were here and the things they have promised for the future.

From donating to members of the DSA to make their home more accessible. To when they were here and visiting the powerchair football and their engagment with Kerry as a whole. Visiting the youth team training, talk of community. Rob learning Welsh. Their commitment to remembering and honouring the Gresford Colliery Disaster. The improvements to the ground.

This is so so much more than faceless people throwing money at the first team.

Its the view of a follower as opposed to a supporter and there is a difference. Many of us don't just look for the results we turn up and feel the passion and the pain. While saturday affects people so does losing to Stamford in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round when Sean Newton does not try - you do not get that from looking at the result I am afraid.
I welcome the new owners with open arms but careless if they come to games or not. I want us to win at Harrogate on saturday not to satisfy our masters but because it matters. I am not trying to start a top supporter thread just trying to explain how its easy to fall out of love with Farah Fawcett Majors (below 40's head for google ) because she is a pin up but not with the wife because we have shared so many highs and lows together.

The soul of the club are the supporters. The players and owners are temporary. I welcome the investment and think we are extremely fortunate to have R & R on board. I just hope that their love of the club is not damaged by that awful behaviour on Saturday. Perhaps things don't look quite as quaint or romantic to them now although I would have thought they aren't that naive.

These results and performances are defineltly leaving me deflated, but I keep reminding myself, that if this current manager cant do his job, they will go and get better again.

I can see the point you're trying to make. The media circus is just an unfortunate side-effect to what's happening.

But, there is a future to look forward to, even if it's not an immediate promotion. This is increasingly looking like a two year project unless we start to click and string a few wins together.

Rob supports a team from Philly; I highly doubt he's going to be put off by a handful of idiots, given the city's sports fans' reputation. That said, good to see the club are coming down hard on it and I'm sure he, like all right-minded fans, will want to see the perpetrators banned.

While I see your meaning here, as an exile, I genuinely think I also feel the passion and the pain, although I'd obviously rather be able to get to games more often!

I think you are on your own with this one...
I have supported Wrexham for over 40 years and have seen the great times and the not so great times..
What is happening with our club now is absolutely fantastic compared to where we were going pre pandemic --- the conference north and probably oblivion!

Aside of the gripes over ticketing and the football being served on the pitch.. these are all things which can be sorted and will be sorted..

In Rob & Ryan, we have a future and I am extremely grateful that they chose our club and not somebody else.

They are genuine guys and here for the long term.. and so are the genuine supporters ..
