Re: Well positioned leading into Christmas
It's about our deep rooted inability to defer gratification... Instant satisfaction. Pretty much every season in the last 8 years that we have started in a stronger position (top 5) we have dropped off by Christmas and failed to really strengthen the team in January in most of those seasons... There's a lot of positives for me this time out.
- assuming we don't lose him to the speculation we have a striker who will create goals from nothing in mullin - we have a defence that is probably only a player or two from being decent - the deficiencies are obvious in our team, and a bit easier to solve than in other seasons. When we have struggled for goals it's been due to a lack of decent striker which is a hard position to fill without a budget. This season its all about midfield and there are midfielders out there... - We have money to spend |

Sugar rush versus slow-burn porridge oats!
‘Reasonable’ is a reasonable assessment, but that includes some below par performances. I think fans and management alike know the issues and we will have the resources to strengthen the squad further. It has probably been a steep learning-curve for R&R, but they have demonstrated their intent, and I have no doubt they will pull the proverbial ‘white rabbits out of their top-hats’ for January. Meantime, it’s a case of winning as many as these next 5-6 games as possible — win all and everyone will be like kids on Christmas Eve — and then enjoy our breakfasts with a good dollop of natural honey to sweeten the taste!

Re: Well positioned leading into Christmas
We are, at this stage, very much about to go again.
We have a good chance of going up, but so do plenty of other sides. Keep Mullin and sign a couple of midfielders, then we could smash it. Suspect it may be closer than we might like, and might dare I say, even take us until next season! Nobody can argue that the foundations aren't in place.

Re: Well positioned leading into Christmas
We are within striking distance, on the rails with 78 points to play for.
No one will be spending/strengthening more than us in January so naturally you'd expect the biggest improvement from us in the crucial second half of the season than any other team. The quality of our new recruits will be key and everyone will be watching out for who we buy. Our results over the next month leading into the transfer window will be key. I think if we are within 6 points of top spot we've got a great chance of winning the title COYR |
