There’s little doubt there was a decline. But we were competitive, especially under Keates once he cleared Yozzer’s mess up.

Perhaps your friends who are returning prefer to support a team who can clearly outspend their opponents by 2, 3, 4, 5 times. However, you stuck with this club. Says more about your friends.
Our crowds held up because we are a big club. We lost a few thousand because we were generally not very competitive, and when we had an okish squad, we couldn't strengthen and we would usually lose our best players at the end of the season.

The die hards will always be there but the club was heading in the wrong direction and many fans, me included, couldn't see any hope of doing anything.

For me, it was clear that some of our fans were happy to carry on, as long as they had a meeting to attend and a pointless agenda to bullshit about.

Now, we have some of our 'old' fans back and we're about to start a journey with a real chance of footballing success. We also have strikers, something I moaned about daily under trust ownership. Im now content, becasue I can see it's only a matter of time before we leave this shit hole.

I think there’s a general acceptance that the last few years under Trust ownership was just painful. From infighting to appointing inadequate managers and players. It needed early success but we just couldn’t get the rub of the green in Wembley.

I know some fans are now whinging about Fleur Robinson but she’s the exact type of character this club was crying out for (and Harvey). It’s easy for me to say because I’m not an employee. The club needed paid directors who aren’t going to take crap from players. The players had it too easy under the Trust model. That is quite apparent listening to the podcasts.

Yes there was a culture of mediocrity that stunk the place out and that came from the top. The single biggest error of the Trust regime was when Bircham and Horne left and rather than look to replace them the four WST board members closed ranks, from there the club was in a downward spiral.

Spot on in my humble opinion.

The green wasn't the only thing getting rubbed at the end
