Not started the usual WC sub forum so thought would pop this poll here...

Speaking to a few people I was surprised at the range of top-excitement to massively not bothered about the world cup that starts very very soon.

So on a scale of 10 is the best thing ever in your life, or 1 you will be gardening in the snow instead... how excited are you... and why?

Meh. As high as 6 because Wales are in it. Would be much lower. Crap having it in winter.

Location/issues with Qatar and the winter has taken at least 3/4 marks off my score. Just feels a bit meh.

I'm a 5 for similar reasons plus the country it's in being the absolute cesspit of human morality during BAU hours on top of thousands of worker deaths hidden from the world in the pursuit of building venues fit for a host nation.

I'm gutted because I'd have normally attended in person, following Wales one of my favourite things to do but I just feel so deflated by it...

Edited for substance but this snippet from the article below adds context to my comments. I'm reluctant to only quote this one source given the article they use is the one I originally read (along with report) in 2021 which originally made me understand why Qatar was bad...but I've not seen anything which contradicts the figures.

The International Trade Union Confederation puts the figure at around 7,000 by the time the tournament starts while Amnesty International reports more than 15,021 foreigners of all ages and occupations died in Qatar between 2010 and 2019.

Qatari authorities claim there have been only three work-related and 34 non work-related deaths in that time.

8. Looking forward to some time off work and drinking in town with my mates and Wales being there is a dream come true.

Times, host and season bringing it down. Would normally be out there but can't justify going to somewhere like Qatar.

Not bothered about watching Wales's glorious victory over Iran in the sports washing human rights atrocities meets unbridled corruption cup. Some other people might enjoy it though so gone for a three.
