Default Ratings vs Farnborough

Howard 6 - thought he was decent until I saw the re-run of their goal. He’ll be disappointed he didn’t do better but it was a decent strike.

Hayden 6 - thought he was subdued in the first half but better in the 2nd
Tozer 7 - rarely troubled and looked calm throughout
Tunnicliffe 7 - has been very good since he has come into the side.

McAlinden 5 - seemed to struggle and constantly played the ball backward
Young 7 - usual effort but improved significantly when JJ came on.
Davies 6 - unlucky not to score. Hope the injury isn’t too serious but being carried off is never a good sign.
Mcfazdean 7 - great lay off for the Mullin’s 2nd and unlucky not to score

Lee 7 - until he scored, he seemed lost, constantly gave the ball away and not in the game but THAT finish was worth the wait!

Mullin 8 - was the only one looking sharp in the first half but wow, what a 2nd half. MOTM
Dalby 5 - not one which will live long in the memory for Sam but wasn’t sure whether he got the flick on for the first goal.

JJ 7 - changed the game and we looked more balanced when he came on
Forde 7 - was an instant improvement on McAlinden
Palmer 7 - showed his class when he came on, always eager for the ball and disrupted their game.
T O’C not on long enough to give a rating

PP - fair play he said it would be difficult and they were decent. The changes made the difference.

Default Re: Ratings vs Farnborough

Howard - 6: Definitely at fault for their goal but did make some good saves to keep it at 1-1. Not a disaster game but not one he'll be excited to watch back.
Hayden - 6: First half he gave the ball away a few times however in the 2nd got better. In fairness our defence didn't really look like conceding from open play.
Tozer - 7: Solid enough and kept his cool despite Farnborough pressure.
Tunnicliffe - 6: Similar to Hayden, just think it was an off-half vs. game opposition.
McAlinden - 5: Just simply not a right-sided player. Always has to cut in on his left and once an opponent realises that it's easy to stop. It's a shame because I like him in the same position but on the left.
McFadzean - 7: Solid game and he set up two of Mullin's three goals and assists are the name of the game for a wing back.
Young - 7: Made the effort as he always does and his delivery got us the first goal.
Davies - 6: Him and Lee are too similar and want to do similar things. Like how Gerrard and Lampard were for the England national team. Didn't quite impose himself on the game before being forced off. I do hope his injury isn't as bad as it looked though because it looked a nasty one.
Lee - 7: Like a lot of people, he stepped up in the second half. His goal was a thing a beauty.
Mullin - 8: MOTM. Got a hat-trick, so everything else is irrelevant even if he didn't do much first half.
Dalby - 6: Didn't think he was that bad, as I said in the reaction thread I don't think he deserved the "Ollie" chants when he messed up and it won't help his confidence at all. He got the flick-on for Mullin's 1st too so it's not like he had a shocker.

SUBS
Jones - 7: His energy, especially against a tiring Farnborough, really was what was needed. Even if I would preferred him to have came on in different circumstances. His high-tempo game is underappreciated.
Forde - 7: As soon as he came on things started happening down the right.
Palmer - 7: Made life absolute hell for the defenders. They didn't seem to know what hit them.
O'Conner - N/A: Cameo appearance.

As Ddraigoch said, the changes are what won us that game. If we didn't make them we'd be planning a mid-week trip down to Farnborough.

Thought Parky got alot wrong - Macalinden decision was terrible should have been dragged off at HT!

The amount of cheap throwings we give away was ridiculous obviously not something that was worked on. And we give them our towel ffs!

The towels have to be made available to both sides or none.
Macalinden is not a right full back and was used as a stop gap with Forde coming back for some game time, was always going to be subbed.

Howard - 6 did his job OK and made one decent save. Didn't get across for the free kick quick enough and ended up flapping at the ball.
Macalinden - 6 Average performance, nothing of note in a poor first half for the team as a whole.
McFadzean -6 Disappointing first half, did nothing at all but give the ball away. Second half changes made him look brilliant.
Hayden, Tozer, Tunnicliffe. 7s We were pretty sound defensively and rarely under real pressure.
Davies. 6 Just getting back to match fitness and suffers a set back. Not looking like it's his year.
Young- 6 Usual lot of effort but didn't start to make his Prescence felt until Jones came on.
Lee - 7 Came good with his goal and looked busy all game. Poor first half team performance made him look ordinary. Subs changed the game.
Dalby. 5 Never got into the game, mainly due to lack of support and poor final ball.
Mullin - 8 For all round effort and a hatrick.

Jones - 7 - made a big difference and helped Young and Lee out by providing the extra effort and control in midfield. Suddenly we were in control and looked like a side that meant business.
Palmer 8 My MOM - real game changer with his vision, control and ability.
Forde. 6 Good to see him back on the field.

Cannot disagree too much with that assessment.

For me, Jones is more important than Young in the midfield; whilst nothing sticks up top whenever Palmer is missing or below par.

I would like to see Lennon back in the defence if fit. Having a naturally left-footed CB with pace is crucial. But what to do with Tunnicliffe, who adds necessary muscle?

More questions than answers from that lacklustre, first-half display.

The only time we left Young out, and JJ played, we were shocking at Chesterfield.

One thing noticable is that McFazdean has improved the attacking part of his game. Unluckly not to score and two wonderful first time passes to Mullen for two of the goals. He had a bit of a torrid time, first half, defending but he had little protection ahead of him.

For me, I would argue Lennon could play LCB or in Tozers place in the middle.

I'm not saying I'd drop Tozer, as he's been great lately, but I reckon Lennon has the minerals. It's a nice problem to have.

True about Chesterfield. Unsure why he dropped Young because Jones had to cover for both Lee and O'Connor because neither were fully fit.

I think Young has played a big part so far, but I still think my preferred midfield trio would be our best option.

McFadzean is a good back-up, but think Mendy is quicker and offers more.

I thought Mcfazdean had a really good game yesterday. Nice to have two proper players fighting for the LWB slot.
