Another decent episode I thought. Again, the focus on football/changing room action appeals to me.
Had to laugh at Will Boyle blaming everyone else for the goals conceded in the 5-0 defeat at Stockport.

My biggest LOL moment was Howard taking zero responsibility for any of the Stockport goals! Steve Parkin to be the breakout star of this series “get those 3 points in the skip!”

I don't dislike Howard as a person, but it strikes me that he's got a relatively cushy number with us. Paid to warm the bench for Arthur/whoever comes in as number one next.

Re: Welcome to Wrexham S3E3 "Notts Again" discussion thread (spoilers)
The dressing room scenes in this and the other episodes are absolutely golden.
Always loved the Jekyll & Hyde contrast between the calm, placid, articulate Parky 99% of the time and the potty mouthed madman we see during the match. But even when he has his game-head on he still is able to laugh at himself and the footage of him slipping and falling out of the technical area is hilarious. Loving every scene that has Parkin in it - he's the star of the series so far. I can take or leave the women's team footage to be honest but the feature on Mia Roberts was really good. Neil is a cracking guy, and a great Dad and that really comes across in this episode. Much prefer the format for this series compared to Series 2 which for me was really hit & miss. The on-field action / dressing room scenes are the right mix. What I really like is the absence of 'big characters' - no names but the loud, brash, obnoxious types are nowhere to be seen. The male characters are softer and the series is so much better for it. |
