Disclaimer: I have absolutely no affiliation to the below company and have never used them, so could not personally comment on quality of service.

Roberto's Taxi

On line reviews seem OK, but if anyone on here can back them up maybe?

You could try asking if they do a Wrexham AFC discount. Chances are the business owner (Rob!!) may well be a fellow supporter!

Up and running since May 2015 and pays his taxes. Well at least on the fares that he declares!

Alternatively... if the Wedding you're going to is in London, can they not move it up to take place in Wrexham. Look at booking out Cae Ras, might make a good "Wedding Episode" for WtW!?

A taxi that far just isn't really the done thing here. Especially as you'd be paying for the fuel and time both ways.

Although there used to be a lad who supported Wrexham home and away that got a taxi from Newport. Which is probaly 50 miles less each way.

I think realistically you're going to be looking at £400

Used them a few times to go to Manchester Airport from Ruthin and they are a good reliable outfit, worth a chat about Wrexham to LHR to at least get an idea on costs.

Jets you can email here jets.transfers@btinternet.com

I use him all the time he’s local, a family run business and a Wrexham fan

Clean vehicle, reliable and experienced as he does a lot of runs to the south coast for people catching cruise ships from Southampton.

Very glad I asked!

Thank you all for the suggestions! I had it all planned out on the train which would have cost around £200 for 3 of us and travel time ~4hours. But with the strikes I think I really need to make other plans. So far Wrexham Executive Travel has the best rate at £385 for an estate car. But others have quoted as high as £585. Travel time is around 4 hours. I'm willing to pay if it's reliable! Another alternative a friend suggested is that if they don't drive that far - we could make "legs"...Wrexham to Birmingham or somewhere midway and then another from Birmingham to London...

The bus suggestion from Shrewsbury is also a great option. Inexpensive: £42 per person plus a taxi fare from Wrexham to Shrewbury is about £70 - total ~ £200. Travel time is close to 6 hours.

If we fly:
Taxi from Wrexham to Manchester: £75 (45 min)
Flights from MAN to LHR: £400 (1hr at the airport + 1 hr flight)
Taxi from LHR to Grosvenor Square/hotel: £70 (~ 1hr)
Total £545 + ~4hours

And again - not feeling the car hire since we don't want to drive. And really - YOU don't want us driving over there!

There was also a suggestion about moving the wedding to Wrexham. Funny enough, my friend did grow up there but I'm pretty sure they have their hearts set on their current location (a castle!). We'd still need to get back to London! We're really happy we were able to make Wrexham work out!

Thank you all!

Taking your point now about the hire car and on reflection driving into Central London is a nightmare even for us right handed drivers. Coach would the next best with local taxis at both ends. Easily arranged and reliable.
Whatever you do forget the train even if they call off the strikes. They can cancel loads of trains on non-strike days at short notice. Speaking from personal and recent experience when stranded overnight on return from Wealdstone match.
Hope it works out OK and we win the match.

Hi All -

Just thought I would post an update for you all. Some of you already know we made it to Wrexham via train on Monday evening - came from a wedding at Clearwell Castle so traveled from Lydney to Wrexham by way of Newport. It was a cold long wait in Newport but we finally got to Wrexham and got the news that the match was postponed! We suspected but hoped that it wouldn’t. I reached out to this group and really appreciated the support! We didn’t get to see the match but we were able to get to the shop and visit the Turf and the Fat Boar. There were some great suggestions and we actually didn’t make it that far but what we did see was great! Wrexham is lovely and we’ll be back!

To follow up on our ride back to London…we used JayCasey’s suggestion: https://wrexhamairporttaxi.co.uk/
And got Bryan Still as our driver who was terrific. Had some amazing insight and stories on the purchase of the team as well as I got to sit where Ryan sat! He was on time and so accommodating. I highly recommend. It was totally worth it!

I’m still disappointed we weren’t able to be at a match but it just means we’ll have to come back!

Thanks all!
