The easy answer is to have a nice dry towel for Ben and a wet, muddy sopping one for the away team if they ask for it. i'm sure in the rules it doesn't say the towels have to be dry.

I find a more effective method is to melt a tub of ice cream then refreeze it with said fish towards the bottom and leave it for them as a peace offering.

Then simply just watch on with glee, when some spoonfuls later, they realise that they have been stitched up like a kipper!

1) The home team are using towels placed around the pitch to dry the ball before taking throws. When an away team player tries to use on the teenage ball boy snatches it back - resulting in an angry tug of war. What now?

The response from Keith Hackett was:

You have to be alert to any attempt to gain an unsporting advantage. If you approved the use of these towels pre-match, make it clear they are there for both teams – and that if disputes continue, they will be withdrawn. If you did not give permission, have them withdrawn immediately. Also have a quiet word with the player. Getting into physical battles with teenage ballboys isn't a good idea.
