The table doesn't lie
We should improve when our injuries situation gets better, but it does feel like there are a few passengers in our squad which will restrict our options if they're on the bench. Classic example today, after Dalby and Barnett came on there was no-one else on the bench that I felt could be a game changer. We may be the 2nd top scorers at the moment, but our conversion rate of chances was poor today and similarly against Wimbledon. It highlights what a hole there is without Mullin. With him we would have won both of those games for sure. Getting our preferred players free of injury and on the pitch will move us up the league, but it's inevitable that we'll have more injuries and suspensions as the season progresses and our much vaunted squad doesn't feel so strong anymore. GK and striker are still needs if we want an automatic promotion and we may well need another midfielder to make that happen. If we don't then I fear we'll dabble around the playoff level and need a bit of luck to progress. That's not really good enough. So, this week is key for our season! I remain an optimist and despite what may appear negative in my comments (I prefer 'realistic'), I'm really enjoying the season so far and I expect to be entertained and on the edge of my seat until at least game 46. A few new players will maybe help my old ticker a little bit

Re: The table doesn't lie
I would argue the league table massively lies. At the moment about 7 teams have points totals which suggest automatic promotion, yet we know all can’t. It’s a marathon not a sprint and I think we are only 2 or 3 points off par, plenty of time to make that up.

Re: The table doesn't lie
The table doesn't mean anything 5 games in.
If you want to interpret things form the table look at the positions of the teams we've played. We've nothing to fear from this league. We have improvements to make, which I'm sure we will, as well as important players to return. |

Re: The table doesn't lie
It does. Crawley beat MK Dons and then got slapped 6-0 by Swindon who conceded 5 goals the week before.
Anyone beats anyone in this league - ain’t no Maidstone’s and Dovers anymore. We’ve won 1, drew 2 and lost 1 and will progressively come into our own. Trust the process |
