The tapping up thing is stupid - look at Kane, Bayern had clearly confirmed with him or his agent that he was willing to move there.

You're hardly going to go to the effort of putting in a bid without knowing whether the player would want to move to you in the first place.

I think it comes from the old way that MI5 (or 6) used to go about recruiting new operatives, in that they would watch for likely candidates and then tap them on the shoulder and beckon them to follow to a discrete location where they could talk privately.

Sounds like it's all been made. Up anyway Couhig made reference to something and some Twitter accounts seem to have drawn some conclusions.

From the WW fans forum:

I haven’t read anywhere that he’s said we’re reporting Wrexham to the authorities. Where’s that being said?

I saw a non Wycombe (think it was actually a notts county) Twitter account claim it. Seemed to me that they had somehow heard/got hold of the WTV interview of Rob complaining about some things happening and put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5.

Ironic as that’s the sort of shit Rob was complaining about and it wasn’t even a Wycombe account.

I call bullshit to an owner who wants cash so he can "sell the club within 5 years", or an agent who was too quick off the mark or a player who wants to leave. What better way to appease the support than cry foul on another club. Tin-pot owner and club!

Definitely seems weird. Would be great if the OP could post a direct quote about us from the interview to clear things up a bit.

This is a snowball set rolling by social media. The Wycombe owner didn't make any accusations towards Wrexham. The name 'Wrexham' came up on social media as pure speculation.

From my Wycombe mate:

I haven’t actually heard the interview in question (been on hol) but our owner is a lawyer by trade and has form for this kind of thing - eg when we went down from the Championship by 1 point and Derby stayed up at our expense, he sued them for loss of revenue given that they’d been caught cooking the books, yet managed to defer their points deduction till the following season. And we did get something out of it. But it just makes us look like a bunch of cash grabbers. As your forum says, everyone knows transfer dealings are dodgy for any club so why would you make a fuss about it?

So is there anything in it? Maybe. He does come out with shite as well (eg the idea of spending millions on a new access road to the ground which would do flip all for our attendances) but if he sniffs a quick buck in the air, he may go for it. Embarrassing stuff to my mind though.
