Default Arthur's Loan Question

Question from an uneducated newer fan from across the pond.

I thought Arthur was loaned to Wrexham for the season, and that's it.

Can Arsenal at any time just say "we need him back tomorrow". Or in the next transfer window?

My Google skills failed me here, so I appreciate any explanation as to how loans work. All I could come up with was basically "it depends on the agreement."

Congratulations to the "less newer" fans on your win at Notts and many thanks for any help.

It does depend on the agreement.

The only time they could recall him is in a transfer window, but as far as I’m aware whether they have a release call in the deal hasn’t been made public

Arsenal will have a recall clause so they can recall him in January/anytime (only the clubs involved will know as it’s in a contract)

Ah so it depends, but pretty much everyone puts in a clause for a recall. Which would make sense in case of injuries. And typically only need to worry about in the transfer window, which if happened would allow you at least some chance to get another GK.

Thanks guys and congrats again!

Yeah when you let a guy out of contract go out on loan you're basically saying he isn't in your future plans. And he wouldn't want to sign there anyway and be third-choice or whatever, he'd want to be a number one somewhere and the better he performs here the more choices he'd have (or the more money he can get from Wrexham to stay).

They can recall him in January. They did it last season when he was on a season long loan to Crewe and sent him to play in Europe somewhere (possibly Belgium?).

If they can find him a loan with regular football at a higher level then they may well do it. It's a risk you take with a loan.

I'm sure Arsenal have said they're not renewing his contract at the end of the season so it would be strange if they do recall him.

Yep, I’d honestly slap a big tasty 5 year deal in front of him

“ Okonkwo has less than 12 months left on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, although football.london understands that the Gunners have no intention of extending his deal but he will be monitored whilst away. “
