Default Wrexham’s injury crisis

Okonkwo, Lainton, Barnett, Forde, O’Connell, Hayden, Tunnicliffe and Fletcher all currently injured.

Yet we’re 2nd in the table, in the 3rd round of the cup, and still in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. Most teams would be completely crippled by so many quality players being out, so huge credit to those players and management for navigating us through this period.

January can’t come soon enough so we can strengthen ready for the big push in the second half of the season.

To be fair to the teams around us there are some others with long injury lists. Stockport and Notts County being examples.

We do have a very good squad though so able to absorb more than most - It's a bit worrying with most of them being defenders though.

If rumours are correct and we sign Saidou Khan, he won't be available until February after the African Nations.

A few people have said to me now Hayden’s injuries are all in his head.

He has phantom pain and only needs to feel a nick and asks to come off.

Tunnicliffe and Hayden can't get new deal in the summer, yes brilliant players but not worth the wage over the season.

I think ‘crisis’ is a huge exaggeration.

It's my understanding Barnett & EOC should be close. Forde & Hayden may not be out long. Okonkwo is probably the most worrying but we have the depth to overcome injuries in the other areas. They're definately being overly cautious with any soft tissue issue as evidenced by Hayden being removed simply because his calf was tight.

These are all first team players-like I said, most teams would be derailed by such a predicament, we are fortunate we have the resources to compile a good squad. Let’s not forget Mullin was out for the first 2 months of the season too.

I would say some first team, some squad players. If everyone was fit probably 4 make the first 11. I agree it shows our strength in depth.
