I think it’s unreasonable to spend upwards of 6 hours travelling for a football match on Boxing Day, especially if you have young kids.

It’s an absolute no brainier. There won’t be many teams’ fans in the leagues being asked to travel such distances on Boxing Day apart from those clubs stuck out on a limb.

What happened to the good old days of local derbies over the holiday period ?
Was really looking forward to Swindon away this season as I'm only an hour or so away, pretty much any other time of the season would've been fine, but Boxing Day ??
Family commitments make it impossible for me, similarly a ridiculous amount of travelling for the vast majority from North Wales, so mad considering we have Stockport, Stanley, Tranmere etc in our division !!

Xmas day is kept free for family stuff, Boxing Day is there for football and the pub.

It all depends on your age or circumstance. I hardly ever miss a Boxing Day match but We have relatives with small children coming to stay for just a couple of days. In the past when the fixtures were closer we’ve actually taken a couple of them with us, but being out all day and travelling the length of the country isn’t doable. It’ll be a day watching football on tv this year, we’ll just make the most of the home and Walsall fixtures. The national league was much more sympathetic in this regard.

Each to their own but travelling circa 6 hours on Boxing Day would be right down the bottom of my list of things to do.
