I doubt it seriously unless Okonkwo doesn't sign and they don't get another goalie, so in that scenario I could see Howard providing competition or a reliable backup for McNicholas but that's a real worst case scenario. Howard may like Wrexham with the exposure he gets from even being an ancillary member at this point - but the dude also wants to play, and proved he still could play this year.

Lainton and Young are obviously going to be off in the summer but not being part of the clubs future doesn't mean they haven't been good players for us. If Lainton hadn't had so many injury problems, he'd probably still be in the starting 11 now, on ability alone I'd say he's league two level.
And Davies really should be playing except for the fact he plays the same spot as the team's best player at the moment. He could play for another L2 team easily, if circumstances were different he'd probably want a transfer. I do wonder long-term how long he'll be okay with being a hometown caddy for Lee.

I agree that Lainton may well have been the starting goalie still if not for the injury issues.

...I think this could work well with him around his online media ambitions too
yes, I think it will be part of his move to coaching too but he will definitely be here.

He will be 38 next year and a lot of clubs have a veteran like that in their 'goalkeeper group'. You can't have 3 number 1's in their prime.

He may want to leave in order to play more, but I don't think he will get many offers to be a number 1 unless he drops much further down the pyramid. He may prefer that of course, but I think being at wrexham would help him develop his post retirement career and his media work as rtr said.

We will need 3 or 4 years at least building for promotion to the championship so it will be a much more gradual process than some on here seem to expect. Each incoming L1 promotion first teamer will cost 500k to 1m so the building will need to be done over a few seasons. Our debt is already pretty high for L2.

Calls to make a Howard another coach for us ? Things are getting out of hand.

We already have a goalkeeping coach and an army of back room staff which other clubs at our level don’t have. We are handing out stupidly long contracts (to many plaudits) on players who we will probably be keen to get rid of some some before the contract ends. Calls for a new Yale stand. Calls for a training ground.

Where is all this money coming from ? Because of FFP it can’t come from the personal pockets of the owners and the current extraordinary commercial largesse will be time limited ?

No, I think Howard will be a player for us next season but that will coincide with the start of his journey into coaching , either here (if our current GK couch leaves) or elsewhere when he retires.

Is it ? Do you have the balance sheet for the past 12 months ? I didn't think we'd know that until June.

Bolton W a team third in the division most of the players they have brought in have been free transfers and from the information I can find the wage bill is not that much more than Wrexham.
