Default Where would we be happy to finish in L1

For me, despite what signings we may make, I’d be happy with mid table consolidation in L1 next season. There are some big teams already there (Bolton, Barnsley etc, who may not go up via the playoffs), plus the likes of Sheff Wed, Birmingham, Huddersfield from the Championship. It could be a very competitive league, but we should be good enough to avoid any potential relegation battle. Anything above mud table or a playoff push would be a massive bonus, though should be our aims in the seasons to come.

Mid table.
See the kop begin to go up.
Training ground sorted and start to build.
Cup run.

Great season that would be.

It depends what squad we go into the season with. A mid-table finish with the current squad would be a very good achievement. If, however, we splash the cash and sign some real quality, a mid-table finish would be disappointing. I think you have to measure success in terms of the resources given to the manager.

For the record, I would be content with a mid-table finish if consolidation is the aim.

I think realistically we should be looking at play offs but wouldn't be too upset right now if we just miss out. I'd like to win a cup and go on a deep run in either of the cups. Finally draw leeds in a competitive game

Mid table would be very acceptable given the likely jump in standards. Playoffs would be a bonus. Not even dreaming of another promotion.

Either a spirited mid-table finish taking some big scalps on the way and a cup run.

Or, no cup run but we get into the playoffs.

Would be quite happy with those, but if we take 6 points from the slops and stay clear of the relegation zone I'll be pretty content.

However I also said I'd be content with a consolidation season on L2, so not going to complain if we get promoted.

I would be content if we finish top half.
I would be very happy if we find ourselves in the playoff race.
Back-to-back-to-back promotion? Completely over the moon.

I think the ambition from R&R will be finish as high as possible. I don't think we need that much fine-tuning to be a good mid-table League One side, but I think they'll give Parky a competitive budget to work with at the very least.

So I'd be very happy with playoffs. Back-to-back-to-back promotions I think will be the stated goal, though. Not saying it'll be easy, mind you, there's going to be some big budgets in League One next season no matter who comes down from the Championship.

My realistic prediction/aim is top 10 but I think to be successful you've got to aim to exceed expectations.
